High potential and gifted education

Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.

At our school, we recognise and nurture these strengths early. We support advanced learners with great lessons and activities to help them grow and thrive.

Why choose us for your high potential or gifted child?

Recognising potential and developing talent

Our teachers find potential and nurture our students to be the best they can be.

Tailored lessons

Each student has different abilities. Teachers respond to each student’s ability by providing extra challenges and extension activities to keep learning exciting and engaging.

Rich opportunities and activities

Students can take part in opportunities to develop their talent in the arts, sport, leadership and more.

Opening doors to wider experiences

Our students can participate in a wide range of state-wide opportunities that aim to extend and enrich student potential.

What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

Our high potential and gifted education opportunities

Our students engage with  HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.

In our classroom

🌟 High Potential and Gifted Education (HPGE) at Bringelly Public School

At Bringelly Public School, we are committed to recognising and nurturing the talents of all students, including those with high potential or gifted abilities.

Our classroom programs provide rich and challenging learning experiences that encourage every student to think deeply, solve problems creatively, and achieve personal excellence. Teachers use a range of strategies from the NSW Department of Education’s High Potential and Gifted Education Toolkit to ensure students are extended and supported in meaningful ways.

Across our classrooms, this includes:

  • Differentiated learning tasks that extend students’ thinking and skills.
  • Opportunities for enrichment through open-ended and inquiry-based projects.
  • Flexible grouping, mentoring, and targeted feedback to challenge learners.
  • Acceleration or curriculum compacting where appropriate.
  • Ongoing assessment to identify growth and adjust support.
  • A dedicated Learning and Support Teacher who works alongside classroom teachers to extend and challenge HPGE students during lessons, ensuring their learning remains engaging and stimulating.
  • Participation in our STEM Research Program, where students apply critical thinking and innovation to solve real-world problems through hands-on investigation.
  • Involvement in our School Parliament Program, providing authentic leadership experiences that build confidence, teamwork, and responsibility.

These opportunities help students develop confidence, curiosity, and persistence across intellectual, creative, physical, and social-emotional domains.
