Environmental Education
At Bringelly Public School, environmental education helps students learn to care for the world around them in meaningful and responsible ways. Through hands-on activities, students explore sustainability, local ecosystems and the simple actions they can take to protect our environment.
A key part of our program is embedding Aboriginal perspectives on caring for Country. Students learn that Aboriginal peoples have cared for and understood this land for thousands of years, using deep knowledge of native plants, seasonal changes and sustainable practices. We explore how native plants were traditionally used for food, medicine and tools, and how respectful land care remains central to Aboriginal culture today.
Students take part in activities such as gardening, composting, recycling, looking after our outdoor spaces and learning about the native plants growing around us. These experiences foster curiosity, respect for nature and a strong sense of responsibility.
Our environmental education program supports students to develop lifelong habits that contribute to a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future—guided by the wisdom of those who have cared for this land since time immemorial.
